Their mighty challenge was started by Commonwealth Silver Medallist Hurdler, Chris Baillie, who coaches at Helensburgh Amateur Athletics Club.
The daily mile initiative will involve all pupils in running one mile a day around the school playground.
The school is hoping to log all the miles run during November with the aim of running the distance of Rhu to Rio, the venue for the 2016 Olympic Games.
Head teacher Anne Milne told the Advertiser the initiative was to encourage pupils to have an active lifestyle.
