The Daily Mile’s fun filled day in Morton Stadium!!

The Daily Mile held an end of term celebration in Morton Stadium on Monday 23rd May.

We were delighted to have children from four primary schools join us for what was a great day of athletics, The Daily Mile and a musical session on the percussion drums. Presentation Senior School Mullingar, St. Augustine’s School Blackrock, Scoil an Duinnínigh in Swords and St. Brigid’s NS Castleknock were in attendance for The Daily Mile event. It was a fun filled day with lots of running, jumping, throwing and of course a lesson on the drums!!

Efrem Gidey, Clonliffe Harriers A.C. who is 6th in European Championships 10,000m visited on the day and the children and teachers were delighted to have the opportunity to meet and run with him. Efrem kicked off The Daily Mile around Morton Track and lifted the spirits of everyone!

Jack Chambers TD and Minister of State for Sport, Gaeltacht & Defence also popped in for a visit, he chatted to children from all the schools and even had a lesson on the drums!!

Huge thanks to the teachers, staff and children from all the schools, Efrem Gidey and Jack Chambers TD for so kindly giving their time to meet the children.

Remembering the late Ray Flynn from Calry, Co. Sligo

Frank Greally had the pleasure of visiting Calry National School in Sligo and see the children participate in The Daily Mile. Frank remembered his good friend the late Ray Flynn from Calry, as he watched the children run he joined in and did a few strides with the children in Ray’s memory. Frank and Ray were due to visit the school together but sadly that did not happen. Ray was always a great supporter of The Daily Mile, may he Rest In Peace.
